Makena Stewardship

 Makena of Today

Located south of the resort town of Wailea and abutting Maui's famed Oneloa (Big Beach) beach and protected parklands, the Makena Resort site sits on the makai slopes of leeward Haleakala, buffeted by Puu Olai and historic Makena Landing.

At present, we are working to connect the past with the future by celebrating ancestral knowledge passed down from generation to generation by the hardy, resilient and ingenuitive Makena families. These familial histories inspire thoughtful planning, sustainable operations, and participation in the larger community.

Building Community

We are passionate about supporting youth and education initiatives while continuing to celebrate the good work of a number of worthy Maui organizations. We will continue to support community groups by hosting events in the resort area and through our annual Charitable Contributions campaign.

Sustainable Practices

Since the completion of our golf course renovation in 2014, there has been a dramatic change in the management of nitrogen, fertilizer and water usage. Through innovative water re-use strategies and nutrient management the North Golf Course uses approximately 50% less fertilizer and consumes 15-20% less water.
